Chances are good that growing up we are all bullied at some point and may have even be guilty of bullying someone else, but since the advent of social media the trouble with bullying has become an even bigger problem for kids. Many kids find escaping the bullies nearly impossible these days, because cyber bullies use their social media accounts to bully them in the comfort of their own home.

Realizing that cyber bullying is a growing problem, Instagram is stepping up to help fight it.  They are adding tools and programs that are taking aim at stopping the abusive comments that are posted on the app. Almost 800 million people use Instagram and since the beginning they have wanted to provide a place where kindness is a part of the DNA.

To take advantage of the new tools, you just have to make sure that you're using the most recent Instagram update, go to your settings and go to Comments.  When you're there, you can enable the new tools that are guarding against cyber bullying by setting up the keywords that you want filtered from your comments.  You can get more help here.

A Little Boy and His Starfish... Just May Change Your Life.

One day a man was walking along the beach and he noticed a boy picking up starfish and gently tossing them back into the ocean.  The man asked the boy what he was doing and the boy informed him that he was saving the starfish.  The boy explained that the tide was going out and that without help the starfish would get stranded and die on the beach, so he was saving them.  The man laughed at the boy declaring that there were miles and miles of beaches and hundreds of starfish and that there was no way he was making a difference!

The boy listened to the man and then politely disagreed as he bent down to pick up another starfish and tossed him into the ocean, he looked at the man, smiled and said, I made a difference for that one.

Pastor John Wesley said that as Christians, we are called to be difference makers and our attitude should be to:

"Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can.  At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as you ever can."

So even though you can't save ALL the starfish, save everyone that can!
