You love your children. If you see them making poor choices, you'll do whatever you can to stop them, keep them safe. What about their health? Many counselors saying it's best not to discuss weight issues with kids. Using the word 'overweight' only hurts them.

Phooey. I understand this is a sensitive issue and you have to be careful BUT you can't ignore it. If you do, you're part of the problem.

You have to talk with your children about their health/weight. I believe you can discuss ANYTHING - it's all in your approach. You can't ignore obesity. Research claiming the majority of kids today will be obese by the time they're 30. We should do everything we can IN LOVE to help our kiddos make healthy decisions.

You are the example. Do what you can to make healthy meals (pizza nights every once and a while are still okay!!) and get out and get moving. You can do it TOGETHER!

What do you think? Is discussing weight or calling your child overweight a bad thing? What is the best way to help our children make healthy choices?

Let's approach this in love - it will make all of us healthier! -Amy
