Today is a heavy day for the country of Haiti as they remember the more than 200,000 who lost their lives in that devastating earthquake that struck on this day 8 years ago. I had the privilege of visiting Haiti a year after that quake and what struck me was the incredible joy and hope that so many people had…despite their huge loss. I'll never forget the sweet children we met in the orphanage we visited. They were thrilled to share the one Hot Wheels car they had…sitting in a circle and pushing it back and forth to each other. And the couple who run that orphanage? They were incredible! After the quake, they started meeting children in the streets who had lost their parents in the quake and literally had nowhere to go. So, they said “Come live with us.” By the time we visited a year after the quake, there were so many kids living in their home that you could barely count them!

My heart was forever changed by those precious people. In fact, I fell in love with a little girl named Alonsie (she's the cutie in the photo!).

Thank you for taking the time to pray for Haiti today as they remember and continue to move forward from that devastating quake.
